{"id":723,"date":"2023-09-26T14:49:11","date_gmt":"2023-09-26T12:49:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rlstevenson-europe.org\/nos-territoires\/bristol\/"},"modified":"2026-01-29T19:00:35","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T18:00:35","slug":"bristol","status":"publish","type":"territoires","link":"https:\/\/www.rlstevenson-europe.org\/en\/our-territories\/bristol\/","title":{"rendered":"Bristol"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Bristol has been a major inland seafaring port for over 1000 years, and is famous \u2013 or infamous &#8211; for pirates &amp; privateers, slavers and smugglers, writers &amp; radicals, explorers &amp; innovators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Link with Robert Louis Stevenson<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Stevenson partially set his breakthrough classic, Treasure Island, in the port of Bristol and was great friends with top West Country writers John Addington Symonds and William Ernest Henley.
